Saturday, 10 September, 9:15 - 17:15
The Career Day offers a number of career development workshops for young scientists - PhD students and postdocs. The workshops focus on skills for a successful career within or outside of academia, and are developed for scientists by scientists; all the trainers have a research background and work extensively with researchers in the life sciences.
The day aims to provide highly interactive training that is tailored for young life scientists and not available the majority of universities and institutes. For example, rather than providing generic presentation training, in our ‘distilling the nucleus of your project’ workshop the trainer works with the participants to help them decompose their research into a few key ideas and shows how these ideas can form the basis of clear and well-structured scientific communication in a variety of formats.

"The Career Day was really useful for young researchers to meet in a slightly less intimidating environment […] you got to meet a small group of people who you continued to see/talk to during the entire conference."
"I particularly enjoyed the career day at the beginning of the conference"
